Famous Sights in Rio de Janeiro
You will probably not run out things to see in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It just depends on your personal interests and traveling style. Primarily, there are popular beaches such as Ipanema and Copacabana. In Ipanema, post nine is where most foreigners gather. It is a famous destination where you can rent a beach chair and an umbrella. You can also buy vodka, soda and other snacks like fresh coconut juice. Volleyball, fresco ball and soccer are normally played on the beach by both Brazilians and foreigners. While some people just sit on their chairs or towels, others take advantage of the waves and skimboard or boogie board. There are wide sidewalks and bike lanes for joggers and cyclists on Atlantic avenue, which is the road at the end of the beach. The avenue has become the main road for the neighborhood. Light snacks or drinks of fresh squeezed juice can be found for cheap prices in numerous places in the city. Getting around is also not a problem because for a mere one dollar, you can rent a van or a bus that will take you to any location on the avenue.
You can take advantage of scheduled activities provided by the majority of hostels in Rio de Janeiro. An all inclusive tour of Rio including the Cristo Redentor and Pao de Acucar can be availed for instance. For just three US dollars, one can visit the very gorgeous botanical gardens in the city. There’s also a lake where you can rent a small boat as late as 1AM. Another great site is the Selaron Steps, which is a long staircase that a local artist decorated with tiles. This staircase has been a famous shooting spot for ads, music videos and photos.
